History of Dance
A good portion of mankind’s history has been discovered through aged archeological findings of fossils and ancient tools. However, when it comes to the topic of Dance, there is no distinct date as to when it was invented and first used by human culture. Dance has certainly been an importantpart of rituals and celebrations that stems back centuries to ancient civilizations. Archeologists have discovered paintings in Egyptian tombs and in India which suggest that dance was existant as far back as 3300BC. One of the earliest purposes of dance was to entertain and to tell myths. It was also sometimes used to show feelings towards another person. Before the written word was invented, dance was one of the earliest methods of documenting stories from generation to generation.
Another early use of dance may have been as a spiritual belief in that dance involving trance was a form of ritualistic healing. Dance is still used today for the purpose of healing in some tribes
